Active speakers are the best speakers to get for a new DJ just starting out simply because it takes a few steps out of the set up process and the less steps there are the fewer chances you have to screw up. Because the amp is built in to active speakers you don't need to worry about the impedance balance and the headache that can become. Also you don't need to worry about getting amps to power the speakers. All you need to do is plug them in and let em rip.
